The Met’s Sommelier Selections
Embark on a journey through exceptional wines, handpicked by our sommeliers. Each selection tells a story of heritage, passion, and distinctive character.

Chris Lara’s Selection: Bedrock Cabernet Sauvignon
When a winemaker is born into wine royalty, you expect great things. But Morgan Twain-Peterson, son of Ravenswood’s Joel Peterson, initially resisted his calling—until a job at a New York wine shop changed everything. He and friend Chris Cottrell founded Bedrock Wine Co., crafting expressive, history-driven wines that balance boldness and finesse. Their Cabernet Sauvignon is a masterclass in structure, depth, and personality.
Bryan DeHart’s Selection: Tenuta di Biserno, Il Pino di Biserno, Toscana
Super Tuscans weren’t just wines—they were a revolution. And few names shaped that movement more than the Antinori family. Lodovico and Piero Antinori followed in their cousin’s footsteps (who created Sassicaia) with legendary wines like Tignanello, Ornellaia, and Masseto. Now, they’ve struck gold again with Il Pino di Biserno—a seamless blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, embodying the power and grace of Tuscany.
Zoe Shugart’s Selection: Turley, Cedarman, Howell Mountain
Zoe fell in love with wine at Turley, where she worked in the tasting room before bringing her passion to The Met. Turley is a winery with deep roots—founded by Larry Turley and guided by his sister, the legendary Helen Turley, before his daughter took the reins. Known for their bold, beautifully crafted wines from vineyards across California, Cedarman from Howell Mountain is a standout—powerful, expressive, and packed with personality.
Hannah Nielson’s Selection: Borgo del Tiglio, Rosso Riserva, Collio
Some wines are all about place, and Friuli is a region like no other. Nestled between the Swiss-Italian Alps, the Julian Alps of Slovenia, and the breezy Gulf of Trieste, it’s known for whites—but its reds shine just as brightly. The Borgo del Tiglio Rosso Riserva is an expertly crafted Cabernet Sauvignon, structured and refined, proving that Friuli’s reds deserve just as much love as its whites.
Shana Ochsner’s Selection: Chateau La Fleur Haut Carras, Pauillac
Pauillac is Bordeaux’s most famous neighborhood, home to legendary châteaux like Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton-Rothschild, and Latour. But Albert Tiffon built his own path. In 1982, after being unable to join his family’s winery, he carved out his own legacy—starting Chateau La Fleur Haut Carras with just 4 hectares. Decades later, big-name houses still try to buy his prized vineyards, but he holds firm. His Pauillac is a hidden gem—classic, structured, and a true labor of love.
